The Best Probiotics for Babies
by Jennifer from Maune Legacy
I have been using probiotics for years and have seen such an improvement in my health because my gut health is in check. You may have noticed probiotics, gut health, and microbiome have become buzzwords in the media. I can personally attest to how important they are for overall health as gut health impacts so many things! Just as I want to be at my best health, I want my kids to thrive as well and that starts with gut health. Today I’m sharing a little quiz for you to determine the health of your child’s gut and the best probiotics for babies.
As I mentioned in my Things to Know about Giving Birth post, babies need something called B. infantis, the good bacteria that aids in the development of a healthy gut. If this “good bacteria” isn’t present while a child is born, a baby has a higher risk for colic, autoimmune and metabolic issues, diabetes, allergies, eczema, and obesity. C-sections and antibiotics are two known causes for depleting the B. infantis in a baby. I had a C-section with my first nine years ago and I had no idea that I could’ve helped some of the things we struggled with as new parents by just giving my son probiotics, and the best probiotics for babies at that!
How do you know if your baby’s gut is healthy? Thankfully, there’s now a simple 3 question Baby Gut Check you can take that will reveal if your baby is one of 9 out of 10 infants missing B. infantis:
Question 1: Were you OR your baby born via C-section?
Question 2: Were you OR your baby given antibiotics pre-delivery or post pregnancy?
Question 3: Does your baby have diaper rash OR 5+ watery bowel movements (BM’s) per day?
How did you get this result? Perhaps you or your baby were born via C-section, which means you or your baby did not come in direct contact with mom’s beneficial gut bacteria. This good bacteria helps develop a healthy gut microbiome in your baby and could have long-term health benefits. Otherwise, you might have had antibiotics which strip your body of both the good and bad bacteria. And lastly, the number of BM’s your baby has is a visible signal of “good” vs. “bad” bacteria in the baby’s gut. Babies with more good bacteria have fewer loose BM’s as they are better able to absorb all the nutrients from breast milk.
Evivo was developed by a team of doctors and scientists who found a way to repopulate the infant gut with this good bacteria! Also, Evivo is the only probiotic clinically proven to restore B. infantis while reducing the potentially harmful bacteria by 80%, so you can trust that you will see results. They had pretty remarkable results in their clinical trials, showing that babies consuming Evivo and breast milk had their gut fully repopulated with the good bacteria they need 100% of the time. Isn’t that amazing? This shows that when bad bacteria is pushed out and good bacteria thrive, your baby is more likely to develop a healthier metabolism and a stronger immune system. And that’s why helping your baby build a strong foundation for gut health NOW will help protect from potential metabolic and autoimmune issues down the road!
