Study finds important differences in the genetic makeup of commercial B. infantis strains, specifically in genes related to metabolizing human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). Compared to H5 positive which are fully equipped, H5 negative strains are missing genes related to HMO uptake and attain lower density in vitro and in vivo in a proof-of-concept study.
